Information about AU 2020 – Going Virtual – The BIMsider

Phil Puccio

It’s that time of year again, seeing old friends you haven’t seen since last year, bright lights, lots of music, even more walking … yes Autodesk University is in the air! Nothing will be normal by 2020, of course, and we won’t all get together in Las Vegas next week. This year AU is going virtual, November 17th to November 20th and it is FOR FREE for each! You can still register HERE.

Much will be different this year, at the beginning most of the sessions or courses have already been recorded and will be published all at once as “On Demand” sessions (over 750 of them) starting November 17th at 9:00 am Pacific time. There will continue to be live keynote sessions, as well as panel and roundtable sessions, which will also be live (over 350 live sessions). The AU team has posted a full schedule that allows you to browse through all the sessions and bookmark them for future references once the content becomes available on November 17th. You think that’s planned HERE

Another AU staple is the Autodesk certification exams, and yes, they’re still happening this year. The difference this year is that they aren’t free, but they do get a 50% ($ 75) discount when you register for AU 2020 which is free. You can learn more about this process HERE.

Of course, who could forget the parties, these are going to be hard to replace virtually … but I’ve seen a few invitations to vendor sponsored virtual happy hours out there, so who knows, maybe they may be approaching? Autodesk is adding a dose of cuteness with puppy and kitten cams! The Expo and AU 5K will also be virtual. There will also be a design slam and theater talks so the AU team is trying really hard to make this the way we are used to. You can learn anything you can do outside of the AU course HERE.

You can also get an AU 2020 special edition of BIM thinking will be released on November 17 at 9:00 a.m. PT (12:00 p.m. ET), where invoice, Dana and I chat about the idea of a virtual AU, courses we would like to attend and some of our fondest AU memories from the past!

Hope we can all get back together for AU 2021, Zoom is great but it doesn’t replace the real thing!

Until next time,
