The future of work
Design of resilience and building security after COVID
It’s difficult to predict how our world will play out due to COVID-19. Obviously, this crisis has already affected the construction industry from a productivity perspective and will have a profound effect on how we view the safety of our workers. With this in mind, we should expect an additional level of design attention to be paid to infectious disease control beyond the hospital setting. We should therefore expect architectural design and specifications, especially the physical gateways that control our built environment, to incorporate the technological systems and processes necessary to keep society safe. What role will infectious disease specialists play in the design process? How will the building’s IOT strategy ingest and collect the data needed to assist society in epidemiological contact tracing? What will the new design requirements be? How will this affect existing buildings and future projects? What are the long-term implications for the supply chain? We are gathering leaders in Canada to begin the discussion on this matter. Please join us!
