Cor-Tuf UHPC is different. It is flowable, pourable and pumpable! So it can (and has been) used to make large structures. It pours like regular concrete, but you get all the added benefits in terms of strength, durability, and workability.

Small batches require constant measuring and mixing of ingredients to ensure you get the firmness and flowability you need in the end product. If this is done in small 50 pound sacks, the margin of error becomes quite high.

Think how many batches you would have to mix for a bridge or other large structure. It becomes almost impossible to ensure that every batch is identical. This makes the end product prone to deviations that have a negative impact on quality and durability.

Because Cor-Tuf UHPC is manufactured in large quantities, these consistency problems do not exist. You get a consistent blend every time so you can be sure you’re getting the strength and quality that you have come to expect.

Testing has proven the durability of Cor-Tuf. There is also no delimitation between the batches. For example, if you are pouring a large beam and need to use multiple batches, you can use conventional UHPC mixes or even conventional concrete to create a boundary between concretes. There are no cold joints with Cor-Tuf UHPC.

Cold joints are weak points that occur when the first batch of concrete solidifies before the next batch is poured so that the batches do not adhere properly to one another. When Cor-Tuf is used, you get a uniform piece throughout. This makes the end product stronger overall and less prone to deterioration.

Mixing time

Conventional UHPC typically takes 20 minutes to mix. Combine that with the problem of the small batch process and you end up with a lot of downtime on a job site. Pouring is done in stages, a process that reduces quality and results in workers sitting idly waiting for the next batch to be ready.

However, Cor-Tuf UHPC mixes in about five minutes and in much larger batches. Website downtime is practically eliminated.
