Amazing! InnovaConcrete Guidelines for the Conservation of Concrete Heritage
Information about InnovaConcrete Guidelines for the Conservation of Concrete Heritage
As part of the InnovaConcrete project, the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Twentieth Century Heritage (ISC20C) published the InnovaConcrete Guidelines for Conservation of Concrete Heritage (The Cadiz Document). The document is based on the same concepts expressed in the Approaches to the Conservation of Cultural Heritage of the Twentieth Century (also known as the Madrid – New Delhi Document) published by the ISC20C in 2017 and provides guidance on the conservation of concrete heritage in terms of its cultural, historical, aesthetic, social and technological values that define its meaning.
The concrete heritage in Europe is at risk. It is poorly understood and poorly maintained. As a result, it is often left to decay until it is deemed expendable and demolished. This guide is an aid to conservation and restoration practitioners and other professionals including architects, engineers, restorers, contractors, craftsmen, civil servants and private owners who may be faced with important decisions about the treatment of a listed concrete structure.
