Amazing! Sure I know what 3D is, but what on Earth is 7D?
Information about Sure I know what 3D is, but what on Earth is 7D?
When it comes to inventing new ideas, the BIM industry can expect a little. We’re here to dig through obfuscation and deliver the knowledge you need to easily understand your contract requirements and provide a cost-effective and highly integrated product.
Let’s face it, this can be intimidating, so let’s get to defining the different dimensions of BIM:
3D: Pure geometry. This is a static model and a prerequisite for all higher dimensions.
4D: This adds the dimension of time. A model adds a construction (or demolition) plan and creates a simulation that shows the construction process in the correct order. Sometimes equipment or material provision can be added for visualization purposes.
5D: This adds the dimension of cost. A 4D simulation as well as the budget data can be integrated into a single video to simulate the burning speed of project activities.
6D: In this phase, the 5D simulation can be broken down into its components by Value Engineers (VE) and enables the cost and schedule comparison of various construction options.
7D: I added this for clickbait!
